The honorary citizenship is the highest municipal award the major district town Dachau .

    Awarded in 1856
    Freiherr von Hohenhausen was born in Dachau. He was made an honorary citizen for obtaining the Schranne.
  2. Karl Feldigl (1831–1904)
    Elementary school teacher
    Awarded in 1889
    He was honored for his services to education.
  3. Heinrich Engert (1831-1915)
    District Doctor
    Awarded in 1903
    Engert was made an honorary citizen for his services to poor relief.
  4. Constantin Höfler (1845–1920)
    pharmacist
    Awarded in 1904
    With the honorary citizenship, his services for the introduction of the communal savings bank were recognized.
  5. Hermann Stockmann (1867–1938)
    Painter and draftsman
    Awarded in 1927
    Stockmann was an art professor in Munich. He lived in Dachau for 40 years, where he built the district museum and the picture gallery.

    Pfanzelt was the parish priest at St. Jakob. On the occasion of his 25th anniversary of service, he was awarded honorary citizenship.

    Reitmeier was Lord Mayor of Dachau from 1966 to 1996. His services to the city were recognized.
  12. Max Mannheimer (1920–2016)

    Awarded in 2011
    Mannheimer was a prisoner in the Dachau concentration camp. For decades he made himself available as a contemporary witness in order to keep the horrors of the National Socialist regime from being forgotten.
