List of honorary citizens of Mittenwald
The honorary citizenship is the highest municipal award of the market Mittenwald . It is used to honor personalities for special services in outstanding, successful and loyal work for the good of the market. The legal basis was initially the Bavarian municipal code of 1859. Since December 2, 1960, the statute governing municipal awards has regulated the awarding of awards.
Honorary citizens are invited as guests of honor at representative events in the city. If an economic emergency arises through no fault of one's own, the municipal council can approve an honorary salary once or continuously. The amount is at the discretion of the municipal council.
Since 1883 the following people have been made honorary citizens. The honorary citizenships granted to Paul von Hindenburg, Adolf Hitler, Adolf Wagner and Franz Ritter von Epp during the time of National Socialism without any geographical connection were considered null and void after the collapse of the Third Reich.
In addition to honorary citizenship, the market awards the badge and plaque of honor in two stages. The silver plaque of honor is awarded for outstanding sporting achievements.
Note: The listing is done chronologically according to the date of award. It is probably no longer complete after 1960.
