(Formerly secret) list of the production characteristics of the Enigma performs on the nameplate of the Enigma machines specified production characteristics (abbreviation of three small letters on) and related manufacturing facilities as well as their address.

The production marks are so-called " camouflage marks ", that is, coded manufacturer names . These were used in the period from 1940 to 1945 for reasons of secrecy on military equipment (weapons, ammunition, explosives, machines and equipment) with the intention of denying war opponents information about production facilities, locations and services, and reconnaissance and destruction as well as espionage and To prevent sabotage as much as possible.

After the Enigma had initially only been manufactured by Chiffriermaschinen-Aktiengesellschaft (ChiMaAG) and from 1934 by its successor Heimsoeth & Rinke (H&R) in Berlin, production was distributed under license to different plants during the Second World War .
