List of governors of Karnataka

The following table lists the governors of Karnataka with their respective terms of office. The state emerged from the former Kingdom of Mysore , which became a part of the Indian Union after India's independence . The last ruler of Mysores Jaya Chamaraja Wodeyar (1919-1974) was from January 26, 1950 to October 31, 1956 Rajpramukh (head). On November 1, 1956, the States Reorganization Act reformed the state within the boundaries of the Kannada-speaking areas and established the governorship. Since November 1, 1973, the state has been called Karnataka.
