The list of Hamburg police presidents - starting in 1916 - lists the people who held the office of police chief in Hamburg . The police chief in Hamburg is a political officer who can be put into temporary retirement by the Hamburg Senate at any time in accordance with Section 37 No. 3 Hamburg Public Officials Act (HmbBG) of December 15, 2009 .

- Hugo Campe - 1921 to March 5, 1933
- Hans Nieland - March 6, 1933 (initially provisional from March 15, 1933 officially)
- Wilhelm Boltz - October 7, 1933 to December 31, 1936
- Hans Julius Kehrl - January 1, 1937 to May 3, 1945
- Lothar Danner - In May 1945 charged with managing the Hamburg police by order of the British military authorities
