Egliswil Church
The Egliswil Church is the Reformed village church of the Aargau community of Egliswil in Switzerland and belongs to the Reformed parish of Seengen .
history
In the 11th century a chapel was built in Egliswil, which was dedicated to St. Gallus . The entrance gate to this chapel is still there today, but walled up and inscribed with the history of the church. Around the year 1400 the chapel was rebuilt in the Gothic style, adding appropriate windows and a pointed arch gate on the west side. About a hundred years later this chapel was badly damaged by fire. In 1583 the roof turret was demolished and replaced by a church tower. The entrance gate was moved again, this time to the south side of the church. In 1702 the walls were raised and the church was supplemented by a gallery. During the renovation in 1946, the church received a new clock and new dials.
Furnishing
In the bell cage of the church tower are bells that were cast in 1510 and 1679.
