history

The origin of the Remigen church is in the 11th or 12th century. The first written mention of the church dedicated to St. Peter comes from the year 1347. The church is furnished with partially preserved Romanesque wall paintings. The one-hand clock by Laurentius Liechti , built into the church tower in the 16th century, is made entirely of iron. From the 19th to the middle of the 20th century the church served as a tool shed, poor house and for a short time as a prison. During the renovation in 1958, the church was again prepared for worship and received a new glass window showing St. Peter. In 1960 an organ was installed. In 1999 the tower received a second bell.
