Umiken Reformed Church
The Reformed Church Umiken is the Reformed village church of the former Aargau community of Umiken in Switzerland , which is now a district of Brugg . It was first mentioned in a document in 1254 and was dedicated to St. Mauritius .
history
Little is known about the building history. The nave contains masonry from both the Romanesque and Gothic periods . The church repeatedly experienced structural changes. The church tower was built in 1488 in place of a previous one. The choir was built in 1521. During the renovation in 1842, the Gothic windows and the wooden ceiling of that time were irretrievably lost. In 1906 the church received a new bell, replacing the bells from 1640, 1659 and 1784. During the interior renovation in 1969/1970, the organ gallery was installed.
Furnishing
Three windows by the Aargau artist Felix Hoffmann can be seen in the choir . They are the last ones he created before his death. The church tower is equipped with four bells.
