The Reformed Church Zurzach is the Reformed church building in Bad Zurzach in the Swiss canton of Aargau . It belongs to the Reformed parish of Zurzach, which, in addition to the Reformed inhabitants of the Bad Zurzach area, also includes the communities of Böbikon , Mellikon , Rekingen , Rietheim , Rümikon and Wislikofen .

building

Bad Zurzach has had parity since the Reformation . After the Second Villmerger War in 1712, the reformed reformers who were now better off decided to build their own church. It was built by the Zurich architect Matthias Vogel from 1716 and inaugurated in 1724. It is one of the first Reformed transverse churches in German-speaking Switzerland and is based on the model of the Othmar Church in Wilchingen . The transverse church has an elongated octagonal floor plan and a street-side tower with a square floor plan, which has an onion helmet. Its clock gables are decorated with volutes.

Inside the church there are galleries on three sides. The pulpit is on the fourth side opposite the entrance. The font in front of the pulpit dates from the 17th century. The flat ceiling above a hollow is decorated with stucco fields, which are connected by acanthus tendrils and angel heads. The ceilings under the galleries are also decorated. These decorations come from the school of the plasterer HJ Schärer from Schaffhausen.
