Reinach Church

The Reformed Church Reinach is the village church of the Aargau community of Reinach in Switzerland .

history

Reinach originally belonged to the Pfeffikon parish . After the Reformation was introduced in the Bernese Aargau in 1528 , the Reinachers had to go to Gontenschwil , which is further away, on Sundays because Pfeffikon had remained Catholic. They responded with a complaint to the city council of Bern . On April 1, 1528, he decided that a new church could be built in Reinach. Construction began immediately and was completed the following year. The Reinach Church is the first Reformed church building in Switzerland to be built as such. In 1664 it was renovated because of the risk of collapse, and the church tower was also raised. In 1776 the nave was lengthened and a porch was added in 1904/1905.

building

To the west of the rectangular nave is a polygonal vestibule with a staircase to the gallery , to the east the choir tower . The top of the tower consists of an onion helmet under a lantern and a keel-arched clock gable above double-arched sound holes . The church is plastered with the exception of the serrated stone on the tower and on the eastern corners of the nave. In the flat-roofed interior, a pointed arch separates the nave from the five-step choir.
