history

The Reformed of Hunzenschwil traditionally belong to the parish of Suhr , which today bears the name Suhr-Hunzenschwil. The first plans for the building of the church began as early as 1953, but construction work did not begin until May 1959 and the foundation stone was laid on July 5, 1959. The inscription on the foundation stone is “V • VII • MCMLIX / JESAJA LIV • X”, quoting Isaiah 54, 10. About a third of the construction costs were financed by donations, among other things all five bells were donated. The church tower was a gift from the construction company to the parish.

The church has a heptagonal plan. The glass and concrete stained glass windows were designed in 1960 by Arnold Zahner, an artist from Rheinfelden . The organ in the back of the church was added later.
