Reformed Church Seengen
The Reformed Church of Seengen is the village church of the Aargau community of Seengen in Switzerland .
history
Originally there was a Romanesque church in Seengen. The patronage lay with the Lords of Eschenbach and came in 1302 initially to the Order of St. John and with the Reformation to the city of Zurich. The church was converted into a Gothic church in 1496 and consecrated again after the reconstruction. Over time, the building became dilapidated and so it was decided to build a new church, which was built in the classicist style in 1820/21 . The interior of the church is oval, while the outer walls have the shape of an elongated octagon. The church was built almost identically at the same time as the reformed Meisterschwanden church by the same master builder.
