Reformed Church Ehrendingen

The Reformed Church Ehrendingen is the Reformed village church in the municipality of Ehrendingen in the Swiss canton of Aargau . It was inaugurated in 1984 and belongs to the Reformed parish of Baden .

history

Until the beginning of the 20th century Unter- , Oberehrendingen and Freienwil were completely Catholic . For example, in 1921 there was only one Reformed person living in Unterehrendingen. It was only through immigration from the 1960s onwards that the number of Reformed people rose sharply. The faithful, who today belong to the parish Ehrendingen-Freienwil of the parish of Baden, celebrated the services first in the room of the first Reformed teacher, then in the old parish hall in Oberehrendingen and finally in the Catholic chapel in Unterehrendingen. From the mid-1970s, plans were developed for an ecumenical center, for which the foundation stone was laid in 1983. In addition to the Catholic village church, ecumenically used community rooms were created, to which the Reformed church was built at the same time. The church and ecumenical center were dedicated in 1984.
