Church of Seon

The Reformed Church of Seon is the village church in the Aargau community of Seon in Switzerland .

history

The church, which was consecrated to Saint Martin , was first mentioned in documents in 1408. Three hundred years later, the church was rebuilt and expanded, and at that time was given its current appearance. The church tower with Käsbissen was raised during a renovation in 1821/1822, but was only about the same height as the roof ridge of the church afterwards. The tower that was built on the south side of the church was finally demolished in 1856 and a new tower was built on the west side of the nave. In 1899 the original onion helmet was replaced by a pointed helmet.

Furnishing

The font comes from the previous building of the church, is made of shell limestone and probably dates from the middle of the 15th century.
