The Reformed Church Turgi is the Reformed village church of Turgi in the Swiss canton of Aargau . It was inaugurated in 1960 and belongs to the Reformed parish of Birmenstorf-Gibstorf-Turgi.

history

The municipality of Turgi was created in 1884 when it separated from Gibstorf . In terms of the church, however, the bond with Gibstorf remained. In the 1930s at the latest, plans were drawn up for the church's own rooms, which became more specific with the establishment of the reformed church community association Turgi on March 8, 1936. The aim of the association was to build a church parish hall. On the same day, entrepreneurs Hans Landolt and Gustav Bebié from Turgem donated land to the 21 Aren association as a building site for a church building. In 1948 a parish assistant came to Turgi and in 1958 the position was converted into a parish office. In an architectural competition in 1957, the project by the Bern architects Dubach and Gloor won, and on July 1, 1959, construction work for the church began with excavation work. The foundation stone was laid on September 6, 1959, the bell lifted on May 2, 1960 and the church was consecrated on May 29. The total costs amounted to 570,000 SFr.

Since the church is structurally in poor condition in the meantime, the parish is planning to demolish the church and build a new one while using the shell with age-appropriate apartments.

architecture

The church is a hall covered with a pent roof and has a free-standing, three-storey bell tower . A community hall is separated by a folding door and there are further rooms in the basement.

Furnishing

In the open church tower there are five bells that are tuned in c, es, a flat, b, c.
