The reformed church Veltheim is the village church of the Aargau community of Veltheim in Switzerland .

history

The oldest church in Veltheim was probably built in 745 on the spot where there was an estate in Roman times . This first church was replaced by a Romanesque new building around 1040 when Emperor Heinrich III had the royal palace expanded. This three-aisled church was dedicated to John the Baptist . In addition to Oberflachs , which still belongs to Veltheim today, the entire Schenkenbergertal with Thalheim and Schinznach was part of the parish. In 1250 the current church tower was added. With the introduction of the Reformation in Bern in 1528, the Vetheim Church was reformed. As the church became more and more dilapidated, it was torn down in 1760 and replaced by the hall church that still exists today . In 1907 the church was completely renovated and the ossuary was torn down .

Furnishing

The church is equipped with an organ built by Orgelbau Kuhn in 1871 , which was taken over from the Ennenda church in 1924 . It is the oldest surviving Kuhn organ.
