The Schafisheim Church is the village church in the Aargau community of Schafisheim in Switzerland . It was built in 1498 and has belonged to the Staufberg parish since 2002.

history

The Schafisheim Church was built in 1498 by Walter von Hallwyl and was consecrated to St. Leodegar . In the following three centuries it was mainly used as a chapel and profane then used from the first half of the 19th century, when cropping and sheep barn. In 1850 the local community bought the church, which was then used as a meeting place and branch church of the Staufberg Church . In 1933 an interior renovation took place, in 1942 an exterior renovation and in 1956 the church was finally restored and expanded. The church also received bells and the clock tower was renewed.

Due to the difficult financial situation of the local community, which could not guarantee the necessary maintenance, it was decided in autumn 2001 to donate the church to the parish of Staufberg. The condition for the donation was an exterior renovation to be carried out within four years. The parish then carried out an overall renovation that was completed in 2007.
