The Reformed Church Schinznach-Dorf is the village church of the Aargau community of Schinznach in Switzerland .

history

The church in Schinznach-Dorf is first attested in a document from 1227. It was built in the Romanesque style. A Gothic tower was later added to this tower and the Erlach chapel was added to the south side of it in 1650. This chapel is the burial place of Johann Ludwig von Erlach , who died on January 26, 1650 in Breisach, Baden . His wife is also buried in the chapel. Around the same time, a bell and gable storey was added to the church tower, which gives the tower its baroque appearance to this day . When the original church became too small towards the end of the 18th century, it was decided to demolish it and build a new one. This building, built in 1779, has been preserved to this day. The last renovation of the church was carried out in 2006.

epitaph

The church has a two-manual organ with nineteen stops that was revised in 2008. In the choir there are epitaphs for three Bernese bailiffs from Kasteln : Emanuel Lerber (1641–1738), Johann Rudolf von Mülinen (1703–1743), and Gottlieb Morlot (1703–1756). An epitaph can be found in his honor in the burial chapel specially built by Johann Ludwig von Erlach .
