Reformed Church of Othmarsingen
The Reformed Church of Othmarsingen is the village church of the Aargau community of Othmarsingen in Switzerland .
history
The church was built in 1675 in the Baroque style. The patron and builder was the Lenzburg bailiff Emmanuel von Graffenried, who commissioned the Bern cathedral builder Abraham Dünz to supervise the construction of the church. The work, however, was carried out by the Lenzburg master stonemason Michael Meyer-Kieser. The church was built in the shape of an elongated dodecagon. Originally, the room was designed as a transverse church , a concept that Dünz introduced with the Church of Chêne-Pâquier in Switzerland a few years earlier. After Othmarsingen became an independent parish in 1879, some changes were made to the building. Among other things, in 1895 the roof turret was replaced by a church tower that was built on the north side. The last major renovation was carried out between 1998 and 2001.
Furnishing
The carved choir stalls, the baroque pulpit and the stained glass on the windows are worth seeing. The church organ was revised in 2002.
