Reformed Church Auenstein
The Reformed Church of Auenstein is the Reformed village church in the Aargau community of Auenstein in Switzerland . It was first mentioned in a document in 1302.
history
The church, built in Gothic and late Gothic style, was built on the foundation of a previous building, which was built in Romanesque style. The church, first mentioned in 1302, underwent structural changes over and over again in the following centuries, for example the choir, which is still preserved today, was added in the 15th century and the nave was expanded in the middle of the 17th century. The church underwent extensive renovations in 1572/73, 1893 (outside), 1943 (outside), 1951/52 (inside), 1966 (outside) and 2004 (inside). In addition, the church tower was renovated in 1984.
Furnishing
In the choir of the church there are coats of arms disks that were made around 1500. These discs are owned by the Canton of Aargau. The coats of arms in the nave, however, are owned by the Reformed parish and are much younger. Two date from the time the church was expanded in 1652, the third was created by the Aargau artist Felix Hoffmann and used on the occasion of the interior renovation in 1952. In August 1966 four bells were raised in the church tower, which are tuned in f, a, c '' and d ''. The organ dates from 2008 and was built by Metzler Orgelbau .
