Jürgen Frenzel

Jürgen Frenzel (born April 21, 1922 in Kiel , † June 11, 1986 in Hamburg-Wandsbek ) was a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the State Parliament of Schleswig-Holstein , Mayor of Uetersen , President of the Police and State Councilor in Hamburg .

education and profession

Frenzel attended high school and after graduating from high school, he studied law and political science. In 1951 he received his doctorate in law and passed his major state examination in law in 1953 . In 1954 he became an assessor, then a government assessor and later a government councilor in the Hamburg civil service.

politics

In 1947 Frenzel became a member of the SPD. From December 15, 1956 to early 1964, he was mayor of the city of Uetersen. Frenzel became First Vice President of the German Association of Cities and First Chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein State Association of the German Association of Cities. He was a member of the board of directors of the Kiel Savings Banks and Giro Association, chairman of the supervisory board of the Pinnau building cooperative and chairman of the supervisory board of Uetersener Eisenbahn AG.

In the 1962 state elections, Frenzel was elected to the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament as a direct candidate for the SPD in constituency 18 (Elmshorn). He was a Member of Parliament from October 29, 1962 to June 6, 1964 when he resigned. Ernst-Wilhelm Stojan moved up for him in the Kiel state parliament.

After Frenzel resigned both his state parliament mandate and his mayor's office in 1964, he accepted the appointment to Hamburg, where he became police president. In the 1970s and until his death on June 11, 1986, Frenzel was a long-time Hamburg State Councilor for the Interior Authority and the Judicial Authority. Most recently he was also the sports representative of the Hamburg mayor.

Frenzel was temporarily the first chairman of TSV Uetersen and a member of the board of the Hamburg Football Association . The Jürgen Frenzel swimming pool in Uetersen is named after him.
