The list of museums in Schweinfurt gives an overview of the museum landscape in the independent city of Schweinfurt .

introduction

At the beginning of the 21st century , Schweinfurt became an important museum location in German-speaking countries. The Georg Schäfer Museum , which opened in 2000, set a special starting point . It houses the largest Spitzweg collection in the world and at the same time the most important private collection with works from the German-speaking area of the 19th century . The museum is of national importance and comparable to the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin and the Neue Pinakothek in Munich.
