List of stumbling blocks in Haren (Ems)

The list of stumbling blocks in Haren (Ems) contains all the stumbling blocks that were laid by Gunter Demnig in Haren (Ems) as part of the art project of the same name . They are intended to commemorate the victims of National Socialism who lived and worked in Haren. When it was moved in July 2009, a total of 12 stumbling blocks were laid so far. (As of June 2019)

Levy Sternberg,

Levi Sternberg was born in Haren on February 21, 1867. He owned a butcher shop and was head of the Jewish community. On November 11, 1938, he was humiliated and ill-treated. His wife Selma died in 1940, Levy Sternberg had to move to the " Judenhaus " at Marienstraße 4 in Lingen . On July 31, 1942, he was deported from there to the Theresienstadt ghetto , where he died on October 21, 1942.

Erich Sternberg was born on March 17, 1904 in Haren. He was arrested during the November pogroms in 1938 and was imprisoned in Sachsenhausen concentration camp until December 17, 1938 . On 13 December 1941 he was in the Riga ghetto deported, then was outside the labor camp Bromberg-Ost of the Stutthof concentration camp and, from August 16 1944 in the Buchenwald concentration camp . There he was murdered on March 1, 1945.

Regine Sternberg was born on November 29, 1906 as Regine Frank in Altharen. On December 13, 1941, she was deported from Hanover to the Riga ghetto and in 1944 to the Stutthof concentration camp.

Leopold Sternberg was born on April 4, 1886 in Haren. He fled to the Netherlands and was imprisoned in Westerbork transit camp . From there he was deported to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp on September 14, 1943 and to the Auschwitz extermination camp on May 24, 1944 , where he was murdered on May 27, 1944.

Lotte Sternberg was born on May 15, 1924 as the daughter of Leopold Sternberg in Haren. She fled to the Netherlands and was interned in the Westerbork assembly camp. In 1942 she was deported from Westerbork to the Auschwitz extermination camp, where she was murdered on September 30, 1942 and later declared dead.

Sally de Vries was born on July 17, 1881 in Haren. He was married to Bela de Vries and had their daughter Minna. Approx. In 1940 the family had to move to the “Judenhaus” at Marienstraße 4 in Lingen. From July 3, 1942, he was imprisoned in Buchenwald concentration camp and was murdered there on September 22, 1942.

Bela de Vries was born as Bela Mindus in Papenburg on October 18, 1886 . She was married to Sally de Vries and had a daughter, Minna. On July 31, 1942, she was deported to the Theresienstadt ghetto and from there on to the Auschwitz extermination camp on October 19, 1944, where she was murdered on arrival on October 20, 1944.

On July 31, 1942, she and her mother were deported to the Theresienstadt ghetto and on October 1, 1944 to the Auschwitz extermination camp, where she was presumably murdered on arrival on October 3, 1944.
