List of the Anglican bishops of Jerusalem
The list of Anglican Bishops of Jerusalem includes all the bishops who have presided over the Anglican Diocese of Jerusalem .
This diocese was established in 1841 as a joint Prussian-British diocese . In 1886 the diocese of Prussia was terminated after no agreement had been reached on dogmatic issues. The diocese now existed as a purely Anglican institution of the Church of England .
From 1957 to 1974 Jerusalem was an extra-provincial archdiocese under the primacy of Canterbury . Due to the division of Jerusalem , there was a separate (Arab) bishop for East Jerusalem and the neighboring Arab states from 1958 to 1976 . In 1976, after extensive restructuring, the archbishopric became the independent Episcopal Church of Jerusalem and the Middle East , which consists of four dioceses. The Anglican parishes in Israel , the Palestinian territories , Jordan , Lebanon and Syria are now subordinate to the Bishop of Jerusalem .
The Anglican Episcopal Church of Jerusalem is St. George's Cathedral in the northern New Town. The largest congregation, on the other hand, is owned by the Church of the Redeemer in Amman, Jordan .
