During the reign of Maria Theresa , the boundary stones on the former Styrian-Hungarian border were set up in those places where the border was confusing in the landscape.

Eight of these stones are counted from the border triangle Slovenia-Styria-Burgenland near Sichauf to the Lafnitz valley. They are made of a wide variety of materials (sand-lime brick, tuff and other lava rock) and are in different conditions today after they were set up about 260 years ago. About half of them still clearly bear the year 1756 and the triangular letters: M (aria) - R (egina) - H (ungariae).

The Birich area is one of the largest barrows in Burgenland. The ancient cemetery dates from the 1st and 2nd centuries. It was discovered in 1873, and ceramic pieces were found in all of the graves, in some of which there were even completely preserved jugs and tripod bowls with lids. The barrows and their surroundings are under monument protection. The barrows can be reached via a circular hiking trail.
