The exact time of origin is unknown, but the year 953 is assumed. Around 1444 the church was rebuilt because it was in disrepair. The side chapel (St. Joseph's nursing father) built on the back was built in the 17th and 18th centuries. The Lourdes grotto dates from 1913.

The chapel was built in 1855. A “healing spring” emerging from the side was recommended for eye disorders. The chapel altar was renovated in 1985. The altar hides a "Black Madonna".

A church in Ort is mentioned for the first time in 1180. Since 1250 this has been elevated to a parish church. The current church building was expanded in 1818. The last renovation was made in 1951.

Around 1708 the construction of the rectory began, using the material from Schloss Ort . Construction was finished in 1711. A fire broke out in 1866, but the rectory was restored. Until 1810 the right to drink was exercised at the rectory .
