Viehofen Castle was first mentioned in 1130, but is classified as older. In the 12th and 13th centuries the ministerial family of the "Viehofner" is documented, in the early 14th century Reinprecht von Wallsee became a fiefdom holder of the Viehofen rule. After various brief owners, the rule came to the Kirchbergers in 1508, after several owners in 1745, the Counts of Kuefstein took over the castle and remained in their possession until 2003.

The core of the former Meierhof of the castle dates back to the 16th century, the existing building fabric mostly dates from the 18th century. Today there is a carpentry of the Emmaus community in the building.

Catholic Parish Church of the Immaculate Conception ObjectID

In 1888 it was planned to build a church on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the throne of Emperor Franz Joseph ; after a successful search for donations, the church was consecrated in 1898. The church was made a parish in 1956 and an annex was added in 1996.

In 1866, Friedrich Austin founded a lace factory. The heyday of the factory with over 600 employees was around 1900. Operations ceased in 1933, the factory building was retained and has been rebuilt and renovated since 2013. Future building use is assisted living .

The core of the building was erected from 1810, including an older structure, and expanded to its present-day size in the last quarter of the 19th century. The villa served as the director's residence for the lace, bobbinet and curtain factory F. Austin , and since 2013 the mansion has been renovated and converted into a home for assisted living .
