Alternative Democracy List

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The List for Alternative Democracy ( LAD ) is a group of voters from Gerstungen in the Thuringian Wartburg district .

history

The list for alternative democracy was founded in 1994 in Lauchröden (part of the municipality of Gerstungen since 2004). Since then she has been running for local council and district council elections in Gerstungen and in the Wartburg district.

program

The group of voters sees its focus in the design of a citizen-oriented, party-independent local politics and in "resistance to the creeping dismantling of democracy at the federal, state and local level". The latter primarily aims to counter the entry of right-wing extremist and right-wing populist groups into local parliaments.

Election results

Municipality of Lauchröden

The newly founded voter community succeeded in winning five out of eight seats in the municipal council of Lauchröden in the municipal council elections in 1994 . After the municipal council election in 1999 , the LAD provided all twelve Lauchröder municipal councils.

Gerstungen community

In 2004 Lauchröden became part of the Gerstungen community. In the 2004 municipal council elections , the LAD entered the Gerstung municipal council with four seats (20.9% of the votes, four out of 20 seats in the municipal council). In 2009 the LAD won 19.2% and thus again four seats on the municipal council. In 2010 Heiko Köppe ran for LAD as mayor of Gerstungen and received 23.9% of the votes. In the local elections on May 25, 2014 , the LAD received 13.6% of the votes for the Gerstung municipal council.

In the course of the Thuringia regional reform in 2018 and 2019 , the Gerstung municipality area expanded to include the former municipalities of Marksuhl and Wolfsburg-Unkeroda . Accordingly, in the 2019 municipal council elections, the majority in the Gerstung municipal council, which now has 15 seats, changed. The LAD still received 9.5% of the votes in the greatly enlarged municipal area and thus only received two municipal council seats.

Wartburg district

In the district election in 2009 , the LAD took part in the district election for the first time and won a mandate in the district assembly of the Wartburg district with the writer and songwriter Harry Weghenkel as the top candidate . In the district elections in 2014 , 1.7% of the vote was achieved and Weghenkel defended his district assembly mandate. He formed a common parliamentary group in the district council with the SPD and the Greens.

For the 2019 district election, the LAD cooperated with the Wutha-Farnroda electoral alliance , of which some representatives were also included in the list of candidates for the district assembly. In the election, the district council mandate was defended again, the LAD received 1.6 percent of the vote.
