She was particularly impressed by Francisco de Goya , Antonio González Velázquez , Bartolomé Esteban Murillo and Jusepe de Ribera . The influences of these painters can still be felt in their pictures today, alongside the often hard experiences of their childhood. Cabellut studied painting at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. She lives and works in The Hague .

Lita Cabellut works mainly on large-format canvases and uses expressive gestures. The paintings are characterized by a special drama of light and colors, here it was heavily influenced by the Dutch painters. She prefers to depict people marked by life. Besides the pain, suffering and misery, she tries above all to show her human size, her "grandeur".

Cabellut's motifs are close friends, artistic relatives and celebrities, but also people from the street.
