Lithium is a song by the US rock band Evanescence that was recorded for their second studio album, The Open Door . It was released on January 1, 2007 as the second single by Wind-Up Records .
history
The piece was written for guitar by lead singer Amy Lee when she was 16 and produced by producer Dave Fortman . It's a medium paced rock ballad .
The song is about the uncertainty of the main character's feelings. Lee was inspired by the drug lithium and the feelings of numbness it triggers. Lithium was best known for its resemblance to Fallen , the band's debut album, especially the song My Immortal .
A new version of this song was released on the fourth studio album Synthesis , which was released in 2017 . The arrangement of this version comes from David Campbell and is played there by an entire orchestra.
