The Little Abitibi River is a right tributary of the Abitibi River in the north of the Canadian province of Ontario .
The river has its source 50 km northeast of Cochrane . It flows in a north-westerly direction. It flows through the two lakes Little Abitibi Lake and Pierre Lake . The 200 km long river continues its course to the northwest. The river is dammed 70 km above its mouth by the Newpost Creek Diversion Dam . Some of the water is taken from the river and fed to Newpost Creek , which flows westward below the Abitibi Canyon hydropower plant and flows into the Abitibi River.
The Little Abitibi Provincial Park includes the Pierre Lake and the course of the river up to the discharge into the Newpost Creek and its course to the Abitibi River.
