The Cochrane District is an administrative district in the northeast of the Canadian province of Ontario . The main town is Cochrane . The population is 81,122 (2011), the area 141,270.41 km², which corresponds to a population density of 0.6 inhabitants per km². The district was formed in 1921 from parts of the Timiskaming District and the Thunder Bay District .
