Leeds and Grenville United Counties is a county in the southeast of the Canadian province of Ontario . The county seat is Brockville . The population is 99,306 (2006), the area 3383.92 km², which corresponds to a population density of 29.3 inhabitants per km². The county is located on the Saint Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands . It was created in 1850 through the merger of Leeds and Grenville Counties , named after the city of Leeds in England and William Grenville , the British Prime Minister from 1806 to 1807.
