Lennox and Addington County is a county in the southeast of the Canadian province of Ontario . The county seat is Greater Napanee . The population is 41,824 (2011), the area 2841.10 km², which corresponds to a population density of 14.7 inhabitants per km². The county lies on the north shore of Lake Ontario and was formed in 1850 by the merger of the counties Lennox and Addington, which were named after Charles Lennox, 3rd Duke of Richmond , and Henry Addington, 1st Viscount Sidmouth .
