Liudvikas Simutis

Liudvikas Simutis (born August 27, 1935 in Kaunatava , Telšiai district ; † November 4, 2014 in Kaunas ) was a Lithuanian politician.

Life

In 1941 his father was tortured by communists in Rainiai near Telšiai (see Rainiai massacre ). Liudvikas Simutis graduated from middle school and took part in anti-Soviet activity. In 1955 he was sentenced to the death penalty as a partisan and member of Lietuvos laisvės kovos sąjūdis . He was then sentenced to 25 years in prison. Until 1977 he spent the time in camps in Siberia . From 1990 to 1992 he was a member of the Seimas and then an employee of Rytas Kupčinskas .

Simutis was married. He and his wife Irena had three sons and three daughters.

Simutis was a member of Tėvynės Sąjunga .
