Live in Reykjavik is a live album by the industrial band Psychic TV , which was released in 1987 on the group's own label Temple Records . The album has now become an industrial classic.

Music genre

The album contains live recordings from a concert in Reykjavík , Iceland in November 1983. On the album, Psychic TV show their ritual side, the music is a gloomy collage of tap loops , percussion and a distorted industrial soundscape. The Icelander Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson , who plays Edda recitations by Sveinbjörn Beinteinsson , also contributes to the sound . Guðlaugur Kristinn Óttarsson took part in the recordings from a distance using a sample technology called "P-Meter" , which he used to control bell tones via voice signals. The individual tracks on the album are interrupted by several short recordings with original sound from a pagan Ásatrú baptism ritual.

Publications

The live recordings from Reykjavík were first published in Iceland in 1984 with an edition of 2300 copies under the title Those Who Do Not, initially as a double LP. With a limited first edition of 5000 copies, the slimmed-down recordings were released under the title Live in Reykjavik on March 23, 1987 as the fifth of a planned series of 23 live albums by the band on their own label Temple Records . The first nine albums of the live series each contained a part of a skull motif called a voucher , the tenth LP of the series, the Picture Disc Psychedelic Violence , was available against the complete submission . However, the series was not completed as planned.

Live in Reykjavik has been reissued as a CD several times (also under the title Those Who Do Not ). At the time of its release, the album hardly generated any appreciable response due to the small number of first editions and the inflationary mass of series releases by the band in an almost monthly rhythm. In the retrospective of the band's oeuvre to date, Live in Reykjavik is an important milestone in the genre that they have shaped.
