Livia Käthe Wittmann

Livia Käthe Wittmann (* 1938 in Berlin ) is a German literary scholar .

Life

Wittmann was born as the daughter of Karl Wittmann from Hungary. Her father emigrated to Berlin in 1920 and after 1933 was persecuted by the National Socialists for 'racial' reasons. In the post-war years he was mayor of Adlershof.

Livia Käthe Wittmann spent her youth in Budapest . After studying literature in Budapest and Berlin, she received her doctorate in Budapest in 1964. Livia Käthe Wittmann has lived in New Zealand since 1971. From 1972 to 2002 she taught as a professor at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch and since 2002 at the University of Auckland .

Livia Käthe Wittmann was awarded honorary citizenship by Berlin-Adlershof in 2005 .
