Liza Mundy (born July 8, 1960 ) is an American journalist and non-fiction author.

Life

Liza Mundy has an AB from Princeton University and an MA in English Literature from the University of Virginia . She lives in Arlington , Virginia with her husband and two children .

She worked as a journalist for the Washington Post , where she began writing features on family topics. She received various awards for this. Mundy writes for the American quality press such as The Atlantic , TIME , The New Republic , Slate , Mother Jones , New York Times and British publications such as Spectator and The Guardian .

In her book The Richer Sex: How the New Majority of Female Breadwinners is Transforming Sex, Love and Family , published in 2012, she documented the growing number of women who earn a family livelihood. The book was nominated among the non-fiction books of the year. Her biography of Michelle Obama , published in 2008, became a bestseller and has been translated into sixteen languages. In 2008 she received the Science in Society Award from the National Association of Science Writers for her popular science book Everything Conceivable on the effects of the development of reproductive medicine .

Mundy appears frequently on American radio and television. She has also presented her books in Japan, Denmark, France, Australia and Brazil.

Mundy leads the private social science project New America's Work and Family Program, which explores social change in family life and in the world of work.
