Lyubov Alexandrovna Bruletowa ( Russian Любовь Александровна Брулетова ; born September 17, 1973 in Ivanovo ) is a former Russian judoka . She competed in the super light weight (up to 48 kg). In 2003 she was European champion in this weight class.

Athletic career

Still starting for the Soviet Union, Bruletova took third place in an international junior tournament in Lipetsk in 1990. In 1992 she won her first Russian championship title, further titles followed in 1996, 1997 and from 1999 to 2002. In 1995 she won the open championships in the Netherlands and Israel. In the same year she took third place at the Universiade in Fukuoka .

In 1999 Bruletowa lost at the European Championships in Bratislava against the Swiss Monika Kurath , but then won three fights in the round of hope and received the bronze medal. The Russian team also won bronze at the European team championships in 1999. In 2000 they won their first World Cup tournament in Sofia. At the European Championships in 2000 in Wroclaw, she reached the final and received the silver medal after her loss to the Romanian Laura Moise . At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 , she beat the Cuban Amarilis Savón in the quarter-finals and the German Anna-Maria Gradante in the semifinals . In the final she met the Japanese Ryōko Tani , after 36 seconds of the final Tani had won.

In 2003 Bruletowa won the final at the European Championships in Düsseldorf against the Italian Giuseppina Macrì . In 2004 she won the World Cup tournament in Tallinn. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, she lost her second fight to Anna Zemla-Krajewska from Poland . Bruletowa's active career ended in 2004, she has been working as a judo trainer ever since.
