Demish Gaye gained his first international experience at the 2016 World Indoor Championships in Portland , where he finished fourth in the Jamaican 4 x 400 meter relay. A year later he won the silver medal with the relay at the World Relays in the Bahamas . Over 400 meters, he qualified for the World Championships in London , where he finished sixth with 45.04 seconds in the final . In April 2018 he won the bronze medal in 3: 01.97 min with the Jamaican relay at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia . He also took sixth place in the individual competition in 45.56 s.
In 2019, Gaye became the Jamaican champion in the 400-meter run.
