Llaura I. Sünner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Llaura I. Sünner (* 1959 in Winningen ) is a German visual artist, graphic artist and goldsmith who mainly creates objects from felt .

Life

Llaura I. Sünner attended the State Drawing Academy in Hanau from 1981 to 1985 and graduated as a goldsmith. She has lived and worked in Hamburg since 1985. Since then she has been exhibiting at home and abroad and designing objects in public spaces . Her preferred work material is felt.

reception

“Llaura's objects made of felt show the fragility of objects, which in general appear to be hard and indestructible. This is shown in a particularly clear way with the material felt. On the one hand, the viewer believes he is recognizing objects that appear familiar from his environment, but on closer inspection this perception begins to falter, because it is not the real objects. The association between the object shown and the real object is so close that the viewer finds himself in an almost permanent vacillation between reality and appearance. ” Gunnar F. Gerlach.

"In an earlier work, which shows felt boats, Llaura I. Sünner transports and aphorizes the meaningful and the banal through the loads shown on the boats." Stephan Kubisch.

Awards

In 2006, together with Sabine Mohr, she was the winner of one of four projects to be carried out in the competition “10 degrees of art: Paths to the HafenCity” among the artists of the Hamburg region, advertised by the Hamburg cultural authority . Sünner and Mohr designed the double-storey Kippelstegbrücke, which connects HafenCity with the Speicherstadt and the city center, as an outdoor installation for an art object entitled the course of the river .
