Llorenç Castelló i Garriga (* 1976 in Barcelona ) is a Catalan choir director and music teacher. Castelló has been the first choirmaster of Escolania de Montserrat since September 2014 .

life and work

Castelló joined the Escola de Montserrat in 1986 , where he began studying music with Ireneu Segarra . In 1990 he continued this at the Conservatori del Liceu , where he studied composition, instrumentation with Víctor Estapé , piano with Anna Maria Cabrera and singing with Xavier Torra . There he obtained an advanced degree in musical language, composition and piano . He took part in various choral and orchestral conducting courses with Pep Prats , Elisenda Carrasco and Manel Valdivieso .

He was a member of the show group Wimoweh: Els camins de la veu ("Wimoweh: The way of the voice") of the music education section of the Auditori de Barcelona . From 2005 to 2013 he was choir director of the Orfeó de Sabadell , from 2007 to 2010 of the Cor Montserrat de Terrassa and the Capella de Música de Montserrat , the male choir that often accompanies the Escolania de Montserrat . Castelló has been running Escolania de Montserrat since September 2014 . Castelló also works as a professor of music didactics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona .
