Lloyd David Moore (born June 8, 1912 in Frewsburg , New York , † May 18, 2008 ) was an American racing car driver . Moore competed in the NASCAR Grand National Series (now known as the NASCAR Cup Series ) between 1949 and 1955 .
Career
Moore began his NASCAR career in 1949 with Julian Buesink's team, for whom he would drive throughout his entire career. He made his debut at Heidelberg Raceway in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania and finished sixth.
In 1950, Moore started 16 of the races. His teammate was Bill Rexford, also from New York . The two were the only drivers from the northern states . While Rexford became champions, Moore finished the season fourth overall. When racing at Winchester Speedway in Winchester , Indiana , Moore celebrated his greatest success when he took the first and only NASCAR win of his career on a Mercury Eight . He also took his only lead laps.
In 1955, Moore ended his driving career.
He was the oldest NASCAR racing driver at the time of his death at the age of 95.
