Lo Hartog van Banda

Lodewijk (Lo) Hartog van Banda (born November 4, 1916 in The Hague ; † February 2, 2006 ibid) was a Dutch comic writer and writer.

Lo Hartog van Banda began his career when he and Ben Abas edited the science fiction magazine Fantasie en Wetenschap for a short time . In 1952 he joined Marten Toonder Studios , where he quickly rose to become one of the lead authors. Until 1965 he designed the scenarios for series such as Aram , Kappie , Koning Hollewijn , Panda and Tom Poes . First with Gerrit Stapel , later with Thé Tjong-Khing , he designed the Tijloo Student newspaper strip . From 1965 to 1967 he worked as a copywriter in Ireland for two years .

After returning to the Netherlands, he began working with Pep magazine . Here he worked with Dick Matena on Die Argonauten , with Gideon Brugman on Ambrosius , with Johnn Bakker on Blook and with Jan Steeman on Arad and Maya . In 1968 he worked again for the comic Iris and the newspaper strip Arman en Ilva with Thé Tjong Khing.

In 1970 he left the comic industry and worked as a writer for the children's program on Dutch television (Tita Tovenaar) . In the 1980s, he wrote the scripts for three Lucky Luke albums that are considered to be the best since the death of previous author René Goscinny . In the 1983 original edition of Fingers , Lucky Luke swapped his cigarette for a blade of grass that he chewed on, thus becoming a non-smoker. Most recently, van Banda worked on a musical adaptation of the children's show Tita Tovenaar, which he wrote for television .
