action

A group of young people engage in illegal car races on weekends. Behind these events is Mr. Scott and his gang, which deal in stolen auto parts. When Marcus Brody, who was hired by Scott to deliver some cars and automobile identification numbers, tries to give Scott some wrong numbers, he is shot by him. Then Scott notices that Heather, Marcus' friend, was waiting in a parked car nearby, witnessing the murder. He then sends his killers on Heather.

Detectives Roth and Simms deal with the car theft and - although they do not know anything about Heather as a witness to the murder - they get an anonymous tip from an informant named Dante, whom they visit after a drag racing contest that can be seen at the beginning of the film . After Heather escaped from Scott's killers in her apartment, she reports to the police and Roth and Simms become responsible for her and take her into witness protection in a motel. They track down Scott too, but make the mistake of taking Heather with them, which leads to Scott kidnapping her. The film ends with a major shootout in the Port of Los Angeles .
