Loch Leathan an Sgorra , sometimes also known as Loch Sgorra for short , is a lake on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . It is located in the unpopulated, hilly region in the south of the island between the mountains Beinn Uraraidh and Beinn Sholum . The closest settlements are Glenegedale, about five kilometers to the west and Trudernish six kilometers to the east . The smaller neighboring lake Loch Dearg on Sgorra is about 300 m to the east. The maximum length of the lake is around 560 m and a width of 290 m. Loch Leathan on Sgorra is not part of the island's road network.
The lake has three tributaries. It is fed from the north by the outflow of Loch Beinn Uraraidh , a few hundred meters away , in the south by the outflow of a nameless lake and in the south-west by a short mountain stream. To the west flows off a stream called Uisge Gleann a 'Chromain , which drains into the Duich River and eventually into the Laggan . The lake is suitable for trout fishing.
