Locust Valley is a so-called Hamlet (in German corresponding to a hamlet ) and a census-designated place in Nassau County . According to the US census from 2010, 3,406 people live in this place. It belongs to the urban area of Oyster Bay on Long Island .

Locust Valley is one of the wealthiest suburbs in the New York metropolitan area . Accordingly, this CDP is home to several golf and polo clubs . The nationally known botanical garden Bailey Arboretum is located in the village .
