description

Group of houses on Schneggensteg

Loisachstrasse runs along the left bank of the Garmisch Loisach from Burgstrasse in the northeast to Maximilianstrasse in the southwest. The ensemble encompasses the row of houses from the stately former Benefiziatenhaus, No. 43, to the border of the historical settlement in the southwest, where the buildings fan out. The building area worth preserving consists of block and plastered buildings of various sizes, but mainly around smaller former raftsmen and craftsmen's houses from the 17th to the early 20th century. Most of the buildings have an alpine flat gable roof and almost always have the gable facing southeast. The houses are open-plan or in almost closed groups.

A particularly picturesque group of small houses has been preserved in the northeastern part near the Schneggensteg. It is noteworthy that one of the last leg shingle roofs that was common up to the beginning of the 20th century has been preserved there. In the south-west there are three impressive Werdenfels farmhouses from the 17th to 19th centuries. Century preserved.

The ensemble is rich in construction details, for example: decorative gable , Lüftlmalerei , wooden söller and verandas , front doors, house benches, beam heads, shutters. There are also a large number of small house gardens and forecourts with sheds and wooden beds.
