Local building commission

The Local Building Commission (LBK) in Munich is the largest building permit authority in Germany. It is part of the Munich city administration and belongs to the planning department.

history

In 1804 a separate state local building commission was created for Munich. The first members were Johann Andreas Gärtner , Franz Thurn, Nikolaus Schedel von Greiffenstein and Police Director von Stetten. In addition to ongoing business, the tasks of the LBK included the development of building lines for the future. In 1809 the commission was dissolved and, as a newly established building commission, it was directly subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior (no longer to the general state commissioner). In 1812 the building commission drew up the general plans for the area between Schwabinger Tor and Karlsplatz and the area between Karlstor and Sendlinger Tor. In 1818 the local building authority was reorganized as a state-communal hybrid authority in order to ensure communal participation in the building police. Construction police business has since been done jointly by the police department and the magistrate. In 1826 the local jurisdiction was extended to areas outside the Burgfriede, in particular to the area of the "Neuhauser Heide" and areas which, due to their location, had a noteworthy relationship to the construction facilities of the city of Munich. In 1852 the local building commission was converted into a municipal building commission, but was not fully integrated into the Munich city administration until 1953.
