London is an American hard rock formation from Los Angeles , California . Although at times members of later successful bands such as Guns N 'Roses , Cinderella , WASP , Mötley Crüe or Keel were in their ranks, the band never made the breakthrough. London is often referred to as the unlucky band. However, the band never had a permanent line-up. The band has been touring again since 2006, under the synonym "D'Priest's New London".

history

London was founded in 1978 by guitarist Lizzie Gray. In a first incarnation of the band, the line-up is completed with singer and guitarist Blackie Lawless , bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Dan Rage. Lawless is quickly replaced by singer Michael White and a little later founded the shock rock band WASP 1979, London consists of Gray, Sixx and Rage of singer Henry Valentine and the second guitarist John St. John. Valentine is eventually replaced by Nigel Benjamin. He soon leaves the band. Nikki Sixx also quits and forms his band Mötley Crüe . He took a Sixx / Gray composition with him - Public Enemy No.1 found its way onto Mötley Crüe's debut album Too Fast For Love, which was released in 1982.

As a replacement for Nikki Sixx, Blackie Lawless helps out again at short notice in 1981. The band eventually fell apart, and Lizzie Gray formed a new band called St. Valentine, but in 1983 it was called London again. Meanwhile the Englishman John Ward sings for the band, which also consists of Gray, the second guitarist Slash , the bassist Donny Cameron and drummer Nigel Itson. Slash leaves the band after a short time and is replaced by Izzy Stradlin . Both would later achieve worldwide fame with Guns N 'Roses .

In 1985 the band was changed again by Gray. The new line up now consists of singer Nadir D'Priest, Stradlin and Gray on guitars, bassist Brian West and drummer Bobby Marks. The latter does not stay long and changes to Keel . His replacement will be Fred Coury . Even before the first album, Izzy Stradlin leaves the band for Guns N 'Roses. After the recordings for Non Stop Rock , drummer Fred Coury also takes off his hat and switches to Cinderella . Coury is replaced by Jennings Morgan, with whom the band is recording a new demo.

In 1987 the second album Don't Cry Wolf was released . With drummer Derek Shea and second guitarist Frankie Jones, two new people are now on board. In 1988 Lizzie Gray finally left the band in frustration, after no success in the tenth year of the band.

Singer Nadir D'Priest and bassist Brian West decide, however, to continue under the name London. The two guitarists Artos San Filippo and Shaun Lewis and drummer Tim Yasui (also known as Timothy Jay) will be there. Another album was not successful either, and the band finally broke up. Nadir D'Priest joined the band Steel Prophet in 2003 and sang on the album Beware .

Lizzie Gray and Timothy Jay found the band Spiders And Snakes , with whom they released five albums since 1994.

As of June 2006, there was a new band formation, called D'Priest's New-London . In addition to singer Nadir D'Priest, guitarist Eddie St.James (ex-Jon Dunmore, Richard Grieco -etc.) Is now also there. The new formation is now (2007) working on a new London CD (title, not yet known) - and also on live dates in Europe in summer 2007. The group is now also under contract with the German promotion & management company “RB-Promotion ”, A new“ single ”and video have also been announced for summer 2007.
